Pinewood Derby
In January, the pack is revved up for Pinewood Derby, where each scout customizes a Pinewood kit car and races against both their den and the entire pack.
While Raingutter Regatta is meant to be fun with few rules, Pinewood Derby introduces our scouts to key rules and regulations that allow for as fair a field as possible.

While Raingutter Regatta is meant to be fun with few rules, Pinewood Derby introduces our scouts to key rules and regulations that allow for as fair a field as possible.
At Pinewood Derby, we:
- Inspect your scout's car the Wednesday before the Friday meeting from 6-8:30PM at St. Mike's Commons
- Race gravity-powered wooden cars down two tracks
- Compete within dens and across the entire pack (race times are compared across the pack).
- The pack has two tracks; one wooden with two slots and one metal with four. Each scout' scar will have the chance to race 6 times, once in each slot of the tracks.
- Awards are given for the fastest two cars in each den and the top race cars for the pack.
For Date, Time and Location, see our Calendar.
Reminders:
- Do your best to make sure your scout's car rolls in a straight line
- Do NOT purchase a store bought kit or a computer cut car...all non-standard cars/kits will be disqualified
